Saturday, May 17th, 1997: Payne Stops Bloomington
The Bloomington Bandits met their match today in Reddick hurler Randy Payne. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.

"He just worked us over," the Bloomington skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."

In the 9-0 victory Payne whiffed 10 and gave up 2 walks.

This season Payne has 4 wins and 3 losses and a 3.18 ERA.
Thursday, May 15th, 1997: Senators Todd Dominates Bandits
All went well for Cornell Todd of the Norristown Senators as he pitched his team to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Bloomington Bandits, limiting them to 6 hits while ringing up 4 strikeouts and surrendering no walks.

In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Todd.

His manager described him this way: "He's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy. He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

The Bloomington skipper said, "He doesn't give you anything twice. It's a guessing game with him and today my club was always guessing wrong."

To this point in the season, Todd shows a 4-1 record, 6 starts, 50.1 innings, 28 strikeouts and a 1.61 ERA.
