| Breaking News |  | Saturday, May 17th, 1997: Payne Stops Bloomington The Bloomington Bandits met their match today in Reddick hurler Randy Payne. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," the Bloomington skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."
In the 9-0 victory Payne whiffed 10 and gave up 2 walks.
This season Payne has 4 wins and 3 losses and a 3.18 ERA. |  | Thursday, May 15th, 1997: Senators Todd Dominates Bandits All went well for Cornell Todd of the Norristown Senators as he pitched his team to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Bloomington Bandits, limiting them to 6 hits while ringing up 4 strikeouts and surrendering no walks.
In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Todd.
His manager described him this way: "He's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy. He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
The Bloomington skipper said, "He doesn't give you anything twice. It's a guessing game with him and today my club was always guessing wrong."
To this point in the season, Todd shows a 4-1 record, 6 starts, 50.1 innings, 28 strikeouts and a 1.61 ERA. |  | Wednesday, May 14th, 1997: Smashing Success! McErracher Wallops 3 HR! It wasn't your average day at the ballpark. The fans witnessed Ed McErracher power his way into the record book with three home runs and propel the Bloomington Bandits to a 9-7 win over the Norristown Senators.
He spoke with reporters after his historic day and told them, "I've always loved hitting in Steamships Ballpark. You can see the ball so well."
For the day he collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 runs and had 6 RBIs.
E. McErracher hit a two-run home run off K. Tracy in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off C. Heard in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Álvarez in the 8th.
This year McErracher is hitting .297 with 4 home runs and 19 RBIs to his credit.
