Monday, July 31st, 2000: Mauro Solís Captures HL Award
Mauro Solís is respected by most Chicago Bleacher Bums fans for his no-frills style of play. The 23-year-old left fielder went about his business with vigor last week to grab the Hoboken League Player of the Week honors.

He compiled a .520 average (13-25) with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 8 runs scored.

Thus far this season Solís has hit .317 with 30 home runs, 96 RBIs and scored 82 times.
Saturday, July 29th, 2000: Hitting Streak Still Alive for Sánchez
In today's 7-5 win over the Chicago Bleacher Bums at The Clip, Francisco Sánchez of the Columbus Clippers ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 25 games with 1 hit in 5 at-bats.
F. Sánchez flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and struck out in the 7th.

So far in 2000 Sánchez has hit .308 with 8 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has played in 100 games and scored 67 times.
Saturday, July 15th, 2000: Hennessey 5-5 Against Las Vegas
It was a sensational day at the plate for Jack Hennessey, but a letdown as well as the Bleacher Bums dropped the game 16-11 to the Stars.

Nonetheless the Chicago second baseman was pure misery for the Las Vegas pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.

"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win. That's the important thing," Hennessey said.

The manager of the Stars told BNN reporters after the game, "Hennessey put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw him some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."

J. Hennessey singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Hennessey's current batting average stands at .286 and he has chalked up 4 home runs and 37 RBIs.
