| Breaking News |  | Friday, November 8th, 1996: Top HL Rookie Trophy Taken by Emmott He's the toast of the town in Columbus -- the brand-new 1996 Hoboken League Newcomer of the Year Award winner -- first baseman Randy Emmott.
In his debut season he piled up some good stats, hitting .305, batting in 79 runs and scoring 74 times, while playing in 137 games. The 25-year-old newcomer also had 30 doubles, 2 triples and 19 home runs.
Those numbers got him the Hoboken League Newcomer of the Year Award.
For his outstanding performance, Randy Emmott will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers meeting this weekend. |  | Saturday, November 2nd, 1996: Columbus's Green Hurt in Accident The Columbus Clippers are reporting that Andrew Green will be out for about 1-2 weeks with a fractured finger. It happened when he was hit from behind while at a traffic signal.
In his career, Green has been credited with 130 saves and has posted a 2.27 ERA. In 259 games and 333 innings pitched, he has a 26-21 won-lost mark and 262 strikeouts. |  | Friday, September 20th, 1996: Hot Bat of Parker Burns Clippers History in the making. That's what the fans at Wallace Field got to see today, when Chicago outplayed the Clippers 8-4. Peter Parker of the Bleacher Bums came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Columbus.
In the postgame press conference the Columbus skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink."
P. Parker hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
Parker is presently hitting at a .259 pace with 7 home runs and 64 RBIs.
