| Breaking News |  | Friday, July 21st, 2000: Ortega Day-to-Day with Injury
Manuel Ortega, Ninja standout reliever, will be sidelined for a while due to a dislocated elbow. He was injured while throwing a pitch in yesterday's game against the Avalanche. Ortega called it "a day-to-day thing" and said he hoped to be back in action soon.
This season he has made 44 relief appearances, collecting 3 saves. Ortega has worked 78.1 innings, yielding 68 hits and giving out 29 free passes while striking out 82. He has a 6-1 record with a 3.10 ERA.

 | Thursday, July 20th, 2000: Juan Osón Sidelined for Season
The doctors have spoken and Juan Osón of the Indiana Ninja didn't like what he heard. The 35-year-old catcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Osón sustained his season-ending injury during the Reno Avalanche game yesterday at The Dojo at Naptown. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while running the bases. Today the Indiana medical staff reported Osón had a torn medial collateral ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 3 months.
This season Osón has hit 18 home runs and posted a .308 batting average.

 | Wednesday, July 19th, 2000: Gilbert and O'Duff Suspended 3 Games
The league decided to come down hard on Stephen Gilbert of the Ninja and Dave O'Duff of the Totems for their roles in a brawl during a game between Indiana and Vancouver at The Dojo at Naptown. Both combatants will receive 3-game suspensions because of their confrontation.
Gilbert is hitting .247 in 2000 with 31 RBIs and 8 home runs.
This season O'Duff has made 42 relief appearances and saved 0 games. His record is 2-0 with 24 strikeouts in 53 innings with a 5.09 ERA.
