| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 23rd, 1996: Baxter Honored by Hoboken League
The Player of the Week has been chosen by the Hoboken League. The award went to Chris Baxter, right fielder of the Indiana Ninja.
In a sensational hitting performance, he wrecked league pitchers with a .500 average to win the honor. Baxter went 9-18 for the week, totaled 5 home runs and 10 RBIs and scored 8 times.
Thus far this season in 116 games Baxter is batting .320 with 26 home runs, 93 RBIs and 84 runs scored. He has 148 hits in 462 at-bats.

| Monday, September 16th, 1996: Ninja Chris Baxter Injured: Day-to-Day
Indiana team officials speculated whether star right fielder Chris Baxter would be scratched from today's ballgame after he suffered a damaged meniscus in yesterday's matchup with the Chicago Bleacher Bums. Baxter denied reports that he would miss a lot of time, but added that he would not risk further injury by playing.
In 1996 Baxter has produced 140 hits in 447 at-bats for a .313 average with 22 home runs and gotten on base at a .410 clip.

 | Monday, September 9th, 1996: Potent Bat Pays Off, Murphy Player of the Week
All week long Merlin Murphy was the toughest out in the Hoboken League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.
The Indiana first baseman rapped out 11 hits in 21 at-bats for a .524 batting average, drove in 13 runs and scored 8 times.
Thus far in 1996 Murphy is batting .230 with 33 home runs, 86 RBIs and 65 runs scored.
