| Breaking News | | Monday, June 29th, 1998: Did Fritz Ask To Be Traded? Allegedly, Lynn Fritz has asked to be traded from Seattle. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great. | | Sunday, June 28th, 1998: 5 Hits for Ninja Huggins It was a sensational day at the plate for Ed Huggins as he led the charge to a 17-10 win over the Loggers.
The Indiana left fielder was pure misery for the Seattle pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Loggers told BNN reporters after the game, "Huggins put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
E. Huggins singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off M. Jenkins in the 8th.
To date, Huggins has collected 84 hits for a .303 average. He has posted 4 home runs, scored 46 runs and driven in 35 runs. | | Friday, June 26th, 1998: Loggers Smith and Ninja Espinosa Suspended for Fight Following a mass brawl, the league has suspended Matt Smith of Seattle and Carlos Espinosa of Indiana. The players will have to sit out 6 games each after trouble flared up between the Loggers and the Ninja at a recent game at Redwood Park.
Smith is hitting .231 in 1998 with 27 RBIs and 9 home runs.
Espinosa has taken the hill for 16 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 5.29 ERA. The Indiana reliever has limited opposing batters to a .230 batting average. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 33-44, .429 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 11.0 GB | | Record at home | 17-19, .472 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-25, .390 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-3, .571 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 10-11, .476 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 8-10, .444 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 25-34, .424 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 6-17, .261 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 11-14, .440 PCT |
