Tuesday, July 1st, 1997: Morales Garners CLA Batter of the Month Award
Today Pedro Morales was voted Cooperstown League Batter of the Month for July. During the month he compiled a .372 batting average.

Most importantly for West Texas though, he also posted 4 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Morales is currently hitting at a .342 pace with 8 home runs, 39 RBIs and has scored 47 times.

Monday, May 26th, 1997: Cooperstown League's Best Batter Named
Today the Cooperstown League announced its Player of the Week Award winner -- West Texas Caper Tossers left fielder Luis Cruz, who batted .417 (10-24) with 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

Thus far this year Cruz is batting .314 with 3 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Monday, May 5th, 1997: CLA Player of the Week Awarded
Ira Porter of the West Texas Caper Tossers had an outstanding week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Cooperstown League.

For the week the 18-year-old first baseman batted .400 (14-35) with 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.

This year Porter has socked 47 hits in 135 at-bats for a .348 average with 2 home runs. He is getting on base at a .409 pace and his totals also include 22 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
