Youth was served last week as 19-year-old Jim Ryan put together a remarkable stretch on the mound, outpacing all other Cooperstown League pitchers and hitters to win Player of the Week honors.
The Tuxtla Gutierrez Conejos Traviesos hurler rang up 24 strikeouts in 18 innings, compiling an ERA of 0.50 and posting a fine 2-0 mark.
So far this year Ryan has 4 wins and 6 losses and a 2.46 ERA.

The Tuxtla Gutierrez Conejos Traviesos breezed to victory today behind the shutout pitching of Jim Ryan. He surrendered no runs, gave up 3 hits and finished the game with 1 walk and 12 strikeouts. The Traviesos won the game 6-0.

Donald Tillman was in command in his outing against the West Texas Caper Tossers. He hurled the Tuxtla Gutierrez Conejos Traviesos to a 3-0 shutout victory, yielded 1 hit and chalked up 6 strikeouts and no walks.
"A complete-game shutout. That's fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."
