| Breaking News |  | Friday, May 8th, 1998: White Twirls Chiefs to Shutout Victory The Truckee Chiefs breezed to victory today behind the shutout pitching of Charlie White. He surrendered no runs, gave up 3 hits and finished the game with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Chiefs won the game 1-0.

He has pitched 57 innings, allowed 69 hits, struck out 31 and has a 5.37 ERA. |  | Friday, May 1st, 1998: HLAA Top Pitcher in April - Ferguson There's something about a young rookie winning the Hoboken League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Oscar Ferguson, a 20-year-old starter for the Springfield Pig Kings.
In April, he topped off the month with a 5-1 mark and 3.16 ERA in 7 starts, tossed 51.1 innings, fanned 38 and held opposing teams to a .233 average.
|  | Sunday, April 19th, 1998: Daniels Tags Pig Kings 5 Hits The Purple Riders whipped the Pig Kings 28-4 at Ballpark of Madison and Rob Daniels had a big hand in the win. The Purple Riders left fielder came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Daniels and a tough day for Springfield.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Daniels delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
R. Daniels singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off J. Clark in the 6th.
