Jerry Weaver of the Edmonton Gladiators put the clamps on the opposition and held the Alexandria Gladiators scoreless in a 2-hit whitewash.
"He's got some good stuff, but we should have done better than that," said the Alexandria skipper after the 6-0 loss.
Weaver was on target most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks.
In 1998 Weaver has compiled a 6-6 mark with a 4.50 ERA in 16 starts. In pitching 102 innings he has 63 strikeouts and 36 walks while limiting the opposition to a .256 batting average.

 | Monday, June 15th, 1998: Fisher: Big Hit in the Hoboken League
Edward Fisher of the Alexandria Gladiators cruised to Hoboken League Player of the Week honors after putting together one of the finest stretches in his career last week.
The left fielder batted .448 (13-29) with 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
Looking at his stats this year, Fisher has compiled a .295 batting average, while hitting 2 home runs and driving in 38 runs. He has played in 66 games and scored 35 runs.

 | Sunday, June 14th, 1998: 5-5 Game for Murphy
Kevin Murphy had an answer for everything the Martins Ferry Purple Riders threw him today in the Alexandria 12-8 triumph at Ballpark of Fairfield. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.
The Alexandria second baseman went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Murphy said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
K. Murphy hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 8th.
In the current season, Murphy has put up a .272 batting average with 76 hits, 1 home run, 35 runs batted in and scored 38 runs.
