Goose eggs were the order of the day for Puebla as Gabriel Ortega shut out the Padres 6-0 at Field of the A's. The Westminster pitcher struck out 5 and walked 4 while allowing 4 hits.

 | Friday, May 1st, 1998: Curtis Nichols Selected April's Best Batter
Curtis Nichols put together a good April to earn the Cooperstown League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Westminster officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Wildcats center fielder posted a .387 batting average with 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

At the age of 32, Alejandro Ramírez might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Westminster second baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Cooperstown League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 18 hits in 28 at-bats, 1 home run and 8 RBIs last week in 7 games.
In 1998 Ramírez is hitting .426 with 23 hits, 1 home run, 11 RBIs, .492 OBP and has scored 10 runs.
