| Breaking News |  | Sunday, June 28th, 1998: Giants Lose Adams for Season
Chris Adams will soon find out from his doctors if his season will continue. The first diagnosis was not too positive and stated the Athens center fielder could miss the remainder of the year. Adams was injured while making a defensive play in the Giants-51's clash at Valkries Ballpark recently. Doctors said he has a fractured skull and would be out a minimum of 8 months.
Adams is hitting .279 this year with 4 home runs, 39 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has 80 hits in 287 at-bats, 47 walks and a .379 on-base percentage. Adams has played in 74 games. |
 | Monday, June 22nd, 1998: Chacón Punishes CLAAA Pitchers This Week
There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Jorge Chacón, the Athens center fielder, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Cooperstown League Player of the Week honors.
Chacón piled up 8 hits in 18 at-bats, 5 home runs and 15 RBIs while hitting .444.
A look at his 1998 stats shows Chacón with a .339 average, 15 home runs, 46 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has played in 47 games.

At Valkries Ballpark today Athens blitzed the Puebla Padres 4-0 on a route-going gem by Brit Lowe. He blanked them on a 3-hitter and had 6 strikeouts in the contest.
Currently Lowe has a 7-0 won-lost record in 10 starts with a 2.43 ERA. He also has 39 strikeouts in 74 innings.
