Tuesday, June 23rd, 1998: Smith Holds Fort Worth Scoreless
Sometimes even Jimmy Smith of Colorado Springs isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Fort Worth Falcons look bad, blanking them by the score of 13-0.

Smith tossed a 6-hit shutout against them, totaling 10 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.

So far this year Smith has made 8 starts, tossed 55 innings, struck out 38 batters and walked 41. His record is 2-4 with a 4.25 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .208 batting average.
Wednesday, June 3rd, 1998: Desert May Trade Orr
Several teams have surfaced as a possible trading partner with Colorado Springs for Jonathan Orr -- or so rumor has it. Sources inside the Desert organization report that teams have inquired about making a deal for the 32-year-old reliever.
Tuesday, May 19th, 1998: Colorado Springs Comes up Empty Against Lowe
Brit Lowe of the Athens Giants was in command from start to finish in his 10-0 shutout win over the Colorado Springs Desert. He struck out 3, walked 0 and allowed 6 hits.

"I felt strong the entire game," Lowe said. "I felt like I had my good stuff. It was just one of those games when everything was working."

In 1998 Lowe has a 4-0 record with a 2.76 ERA in 6 starts.
