Tuesday, August 19th, 1997: Carson City Blanked by Robles
In an impressive outing, Sandro Robles whitewashed the Carson City Senators 4-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Robles, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Cincinnati hurler held Carson City scoreless, allowed 5 hits, chalked up 5 strikeouts and yielded 1 walk.

In the 1997 season Robles has recorded a 11-7 mark. In 23 starts he has fanned 30 batters in 163 innings with a 3.87 ERA.
Wednesday, July 30th, 1997: Hernández Sharp, Whitewashes Biscuits
The Memphis Biscuits met their match today in Cincinnati hurler Manuel Hernández. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 2-hit shutout.

"He just worked us over," the Memphis skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."

In the 8-0 victory Hernández whiffed 5 and gave up 2 walks.

In season stats Hernández shows a 9-8 record in 19 games, 127.1 innings, 84 strikeouts and a 5.80 ERA.
Saturday, July 26th, 1997: Super Swinger! Barnes Slams 5 Hits!
All game long Cincinnati's Tim Barnes was rattling the walls at Energy Ballpark and banging out base hits against the Athens Giants. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Samurai had a 14-8 victory.

Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 21-year-old third baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."

T. Barnes singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off W. Doyle in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

Barnes has a .316 average and a .353 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 120 hits, 3 home runs and driven in 45 runs.
