Friday, July 18th, 1997: Palmer Career Ended by Injury
The expression on his face said it all when starting pitcher William Palmer was injured in a game against Placerville. You could tell that this was no minor injury. Palmer was examined quickly by the team doctor and immediately rushed to the local hospital. After several tests, the diagnosis was a fractured elbow, and in this case, it means his career is over.

The Jeffersonville Jammers issued the following statement:

"It is with great sadness to see William leave the game so soon. He was a great competitor and teammate and we are sure he will stick around in some capacity with our team."

Palmer has gone 3-9 this season with an ERA of 5.01 and 43 strikeouts in 129.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .305 against him.
