Friday, May 16th, 1997: High-5s for Glass! Goes 5-6!
After the Martins Ferry 17-10 victory over Cuernavaca and his 5-hit day center fielder Colton Glass told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."

The 20-year-old player gained that distinction today at Ballpark of Madison with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Cuernavaca Altepetl.

The skipper of the Purple Riders spoke glowingly of Glass, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Colton did that to perfection today."

C. Glass singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

For the season, Glass is hitting at a .292 clip with 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and has scored 19 runs. He has 40 hits, 11 walks and a .345 on-base percentage.
