 | Sunday, June 15th, 1997: López Pitches Houston to Shutout Victory Héctor López of the Houston Flock spun his magic on the Calgary Firebirds today. He blanked them 7-0 on 1 hit, registering 9 strikeouts and 1 walk. "The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," López said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down." Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the Houston skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone." In 1997 López has worked 84.1 innings with 75 strikeouts en route to a 8-3 record and 2.67 ERA. |
