 | Sunday, September 1st, 1996: Big Day for Gonzáles! Swats 5 Hits! Víctor Gonzáles put on a hitting clinic today as the Totems dumped the Brahmas 15-4 at Totems Ballpark. The Vancouver left fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Kansas City pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game. He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch." V. Gonzáles singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off G. Méndez in the 9th. In the current season, Gonzáles has put up a .348 batting average with 178 hits, 38 home runs, 111 RBIs and scored 117 times. |
