Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Bob Hodges did just that today for the Avalanche and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 26-year-old catcher said after his record-setting performance.
B. Hodges singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off J. Kennedy in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off J. Kennedy in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
A look at his 1997 stats shows Hodges with a .297 average, 7 home runs, 61 RBIs and 74 runs scored. He has played in 116 games. | |
