 | Wednesday, July 23rd, 1997: Hooray for Delaney! Hammers 5 Hits! During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Ralph Delaney went 5 for 7 against the Toronto Dogs at Cashman Field and the Stars picked up a 9-8 victory. He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted shortstop was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room. "He was patient up there today," the Las Vegas skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Delaney has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes." R. Delaney hit an RBI triple in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, walked in the 9th, singled in the 11th, singled in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off G. Pacheco in the 16th. This season Delaney is batting .273 with 34 RBIs, 64 runs scored and 6 home runs. |
